Hi! My name is Nikol. I am a Hungarian student currently studying hospitality but can't seem to find what I am looking for in that field. I am 19 (turning 20 in 2025), and honestly a bit scared about the future. It's daunting.
Throughout my life I was never too sure what I wanted to be - mostly cause I wanted to be everything really. Picking a field was not easy. So I started working through them. First it began with programming, thought it was the coolest concept every making computers come to life - as it turns out, SUPER boring. 3D modelling next, honestly did really well with it but couldn't see myself doing it as a job everyday. Teacher? Out of the question, they don't get paid very well. And there were MANY more. Ultimately I landed at opening a cafe.
A cafe felt so right. Make cute pastries and drinks, hopefully not too stressful, and baking has joined me throughout my life. Upon presenting this idea to my dad, he liked it and also suggested in that case I could try looking into food management. Food management also sounded interesting but in all the universities I looked at, it was a merely a unit within hospitality management and not taken any further than that. I decided that I should try studying hospitality anyways as it is important to get some kind of degree and be specialized in something. Turns out, after 2 different universities, not for me. Managing hotels sounds way too stressful, way too largescale, and my passion for it just wasn't there. After coming to that decision, I realized I want to be more hands on and I should go back to my roots of opening a simple cafe and making cute treats. Although I have no idea how to run a cafe I do hope it's the right path for me. I have been searching for answers for so long, and this is truly what I think will fulfill me.
